
(Beijing, January 22) Hoang Anh Tuan of Vietnam won the men's 56kg class with a total of 278kg on the opening day of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 International Weightlifting Invitational Tournament at the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Gymnasium this evening. China's Lu Jinbi and Alvarez Sergio of Cuba finished second and third respectively.
In the snatch of Group A, China's Wu Jingbiao lifted 116kg, but failed at 123kg. Lu Jinbi succeeded at 118.
Hoang Anh Tuan of Vietnam came first in the snatch with 128kg and Cuban Alvarez Sergio was second with 120kg.
In the jerk & clean held later, Wu Jingbiao managed 140kg while his teammate Lu Jinbi succeeded at 153kg, ahead of Alvarez Sergio' 151 and Hoang Anh Tuan's 150.
In total, Hoang took the gold with 278. China's Lu won the silver from Alvarez Sergio, despite the two lifting the same total of 271, as Lu was lighter than the Cuban.
Earlier, Cen Biao finished atop Group B with 270kg and Lu Guangbin, Xu Jingui and Zhu Xinwen placed second to fourth respectively. The Group B results don't count in the rankings in accordance with tournament rules.
